The period of Sade-sati starts when Saturn enters the zodiac sign immediately before the zodiac sign of Moon at the time of the birth of the individual. That is, if the Moon sign at the time of birth of the native was Taurus, then the Sadesati will begin when Saturn enters sign Aries. The Sadesati will continue while Saturn transits over this sign and the next two signs, i.e. the birth sign and the sign after it. Saturn spends around 2½ years in each sign. To cross these three signs it takes about 7½ years. Thus the name Sadesati which literally means seven and a half.

According to one school of Vedic astrology this is a troublesome time for the individual who is going through it. In my 10 years of astrology practice I have come across many people who ask questions like

Jupiter is also known as “Brihaspati”. It rules over the two signs of the zodiac, one being “Sagittarius” and the other being “Pisces”. In mythology, Brihaspati is the son of Angirasa (Anga- physical body; rasa –the fluid in the body). There is a continuous secretion and flow of fluid in the body, in sorrow, or joy, fear or anger, hope or disappointments. The food intake is the source of the fluid (Rasa) and this exercises influence over the body and mind (Chittavriiti) which is why Brihaspati also concerns our food, Life and Living. It gives power to sustain; thus connecting to the Liver in the body that sustains Life.

Brihaspati is also addressed as Bachaspati or Master of Speech, or Lord of Language, Eloquence and wisdom. Here “Bach” represents “Bak” or commonly known as “Vak” or speech, and “Pati” means Master. Like water travels freely in the sign of Pisces owned by Jupiter, so does Birhaspati represents expressions.

It is characterized as “Dev Guru” or the one who gives guidance to the Devtas – Gods. Hence those with positive influence of Jupiter are also religious in their temperaments.

The Nakshatras represent a cluster of Stars. For instance, the first Nakshatra in sequence known as ‘Ashwini’ is made up of 3 stars that have the looks of a Horse, hence from the Sanskrit word ‘Ashwa,’ which means a Horse we get ‘Ashwini.’ The Horse thus becomes the symbol of this asterism. The Moon placed in a particular Nakshatra decides the mental bearings of the native; how would they be, and if they are not in required levels. 108 Beads of the ‘Japa Mala’

Those who are aware of the Hindu rosary or the ‘Japa Mala,’ used in the counting of Mantras, might also know that there are 108 beads in this Mala. Now, this number is not just a random thing. A circular pizza may be compared to the sky. Cutting a pizza into 27 equal parts each would cover a span of full 360 degrees. Correspondingly, in the sky that we address as the Zodiac, each Nakshatra too would thus measure an arc of 13.20 degrees.

The ancient Indian Astrologers have always preferred precision in their studies and, keeping this in their mind, have further subdivided this arc of 13.20 degrees into 4 parts of 3.20 degrees each known as ‘Padas.’ So, we now have 27 x 4 = 108 Padas. This is the reason said to be for having 108 beads in the ‘Japa Mala.’ It is also believed that when one recites one full Mala of 108 Mantras, he has asked for forgiveness and also requested for blessings from each part of the Zodiac that influences every small or big affair of the human existence. In short, one would be asking for grace from the Omnipresent, Omniscient and the Omnipotent Lord or the Creator, under whose domain the whole Zodiac is contained. In the same way, in the scriptures the Nakshatras too are considered to be Divine beings, worthy of being worshipped through the Lords of these Nakshatras, who are the Navgrahas or the 9 planets in Hindu Astrology.
 
In other words, we have 27 nakshatras with 4 charans each. Multiply 27 x 4 and you get 108. So, when you take 108 names of the Lord, you automatically are doing remedial measures for every planet in your chart, because all the Lords of these charans are nothing else but manifestations of the Supreme itself. 108 Padas means all the degrees of the Zodiac covered. You have, by taking 108 names of the Lord, actually paid obeisance to all the portions of this Universe.
 
So, finally the Zodiac as we consider in Astrology consists of the following:
 
1. The Zodiac of 360 degrees divided into 12 parts each of 30 degrees named as the Zodiac Signs in the order – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces owned by the 7 + 2 = 9 planets, where the 7 Planets comprise of The Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn while the other two are shadowy planets (invisible) called as Rahu and Ketu or the Dragons Head and the Dragons Tail respectively, in Western Astrology. They are the northern and southern nodes of the Moon.

2. Furthermore division followed by the 27 Nakshatras each measuring 13.20 degrees arc of the Zodiac. This again followed by 108 Charans or Padas as explained above.

Below are the names of the 27 Nakshatras and a list of their other attributes. Please note that this list is not exhaustive.

Note that the above list has to be applied with cautions while delineating results and not clinging strictly to the literal dictionary meanings of the words mentioned above. For instance, a person who is born in a Nakshatra whose symbolic representation is a Tiger, then it has got certain denotations that only an expert astrologer would be able to guide. One must not stick to the literal translated meaning of these. For example, in match-making the Yonis representation will guide the astrologer to how the partners looking for a match will compare in physical compatibilities. Point number 1 suggests as Sania is also not submissive, seeing her chart, so naturally both of them could try to dominate each other.

The same thing is seen in point number 2. However, as the Lords of the 7th House in both charts are fair enough, the intensity of trouble could be reduced, but not disappear.

Whenever Mangal becomes the Ascendant Lord or Yog Karaka, the Dosha gets nullified, naturally. Mangal in conjunction with or under the aspect of Guru (Jupiter) as Guru is a wise man, it propitiates Mangal. Moon and Mangal together in a sign (conjunction), will also nullify the Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha. Debilitated Mars (Neecha Mangal) is sign Cancer, nullifies the Dosha. When one crosses the age of 28, Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha gets naturally nullified as by that time one naturally gets more matured about one’s anger and temperament.

Further, even if one has a Mangal/ Kuja Dosha, if the prospective bride or groom, has Shani in any of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th Houses, the Dosha gets nullified, because Shani, is the opposite of Mangal. It is cold and practical and so can handle the temperament of Mangal.

The Shadbala strength should also be checked, because if it is weak in Shadbala, is of Vriddha Avastha or Mrut Avastha or Baal Avastha, Mangal cannot do any harm.

After cross-checking all these above points and issues, one could responsibly say whether the client has a Mangal or Kuja Dosha or not.

If one finds that there is definitely Mangal/ Kuja Dosha in the horoscope, then Mangal Dosha Shanti should be done by a competent Brahmin. In such cases, never try to save some money by performing the Mangal Dosha Puja or Shanti on one’s own, as in the current lifestyles, the laid Vedic Principles cannot be followed to propitiate planets.

People, now-a-days, consider that Kundali matching is only Ashtakoot or Guna Matching and nothing else. The higher the points gained, the more assured happy married life is (This is the common belief/ myth).

The second myth is that people only ask for the existence of Mangal Dosha in the horoscopes to be matched with the belief that if it is there, the one with the Mangal Dosha will become a widow or widower.

The joke here is not on the common man but on the astrologer, who has one of most noble profession of utmost responsibility. It can be understood that the common man would not know about these wrong beliefs they have, because they do not know astrology.

Let’s then break these myths.

Ashtakoot or Guna matching is actually matching of 8 criteria that are all derived from the Janma Nakshatra (Moon Star/Asterism) and the division of the same, as well as moon sign.

The 8 criteria for Ashtakoot or Guna matching are as follows:

1.  Varna – Matching of the castes
2.  Vashya – Attraction
3.  Tara – Longevity of either
4.  Yoni – Nature and characteristics
5.  Graha Maitri – Natural friendship
6.  Gan – Mental Compatibility
7.  Bhakoot – Relative influence of one on the other
8.  Nadi – Possibility of child birth

As per the chronology above, the numeric points given to each is also the same, i.e. 1 to 8 that together comes to a total of 36. It is believed that a maximum of 36 points can be achieved that is a guarantee of a happy, trouble free, blissful and long married life. Minimum points allowed for marriage are 18; lesser than that, the marriage is not suitable. This is, however, not the only and last thing to check for marriage compatibility; it is one of the tools.

This system was actually devised in the earlier days, when most Indians were never in a position to cast their natal Ascendant horoscope, for want of finances to pay to the Brahmin to cast the horoscope. Thus learned sages and scholars had devised this Ashtakoot system as it was always easy for the Brahmin, who knows the sign and Nakshatra that the Moon is transiting through and thus the common man would just consult him and get to know the sign that his child is born in and thereby name it, based on the letters assigned to each sign of the zodiac. So in future, when these poor people referred to a Brahmin for Kundali matching based on the first letter of the name, the Brahmin could easily identify the Nakshatra and sign both of them are born in and instantly calculate the Ashtakoot and thus suggest about the marriage.

Since most Indians from ages never had the option of the Ascendant horoscope, they started believing that the Ashtakoot or Guna matching is the only tool to match the horoscopes and hence such heavy reliance was on it.

Those privileged in those ancient days, to be able to have their ascendant horoscopes cast, had the benefit of getting the horoscopes matched properly, based on Ashtakoot and the Ascendant horoscope.

The Ascendant based horoscope matches the nature, tastes and hobbies and its similarity or differences based on the relations between the Ascendants and their Lords, it matches the true attraction towards each other based on the Venus signs and the relation between each other’s Moons. It matches the emotional and mental compatibility based on the Moon sign and the relation between each other’s Moons. It also includes Mangal Dosha and child birth related issues based on the Lords of the 5th House and their strengths.

The ascendant based horoscope matching is more important as it entails all the twelve signs, the true Lordships of the planets concerned, where as Ashtakoot matching is only based on the Moon – the sign and the Nakshatra it is in.

This article does not suggest that Ashtakoot/ Guna matching is not important, it is. However, it is not the only system of Kundali matching.

In January 2012, I find that, transiting Saturn and transiting Jupiter aspect each other. Transiting Saturn is in applying conjunction to her natal Saturn. Transiting Jupiter is in applying opposition to her natal Saturn. Transiting Saturn aspects natal Venus. Transiting Venus will be in a trine aspect to natal and transiting Saturn. Transiting Venus will be in a sextile aspect to natal and transiting Jupiter.

In June and July 2012, note that transiting Jupiter will pass over natal Rahu (Dragon’s Head – Moon’ North Node). Transiting Rahu and transiting Jupiter will aspect each other. 1. I don’t see the BSE going below 15,800 and whenever it comes down to this level, it may bounce back. Though this month may be volatile and I see the volatility of 1500 – 2000 points, as the international market will also be volatile. So the market will keep on playing between16,000 – 17,500.
 
2. Nifty (NSE) can also come down to 4,750. But it will again jump back to 5,350. So 600 – 700 point’s volatility can be seen in Nifty, too.
 
3. Gold touched 16,750 in India, as per as my last month’s prediction. In the international market, it came down to $1,080 from the level of $1,132 per ounce. It may bounce back again to the level of $1,150 and the lower level could be $1,062 in the international market. In India, it can come down to 15,800 for 10 grams and the upper level in India can be 16,800 again.
 
4. Silver can also see a volatility of 1,500 – 2,000 points in the month of February 2010.
 
5. Crude Oil in the international market has come below $73 per barrel, but can bounce back any time and can touch $82 per barrel once again.
 
6. DOWJONES, as I had predicted last month, will not cross 10,800. The lower side of DOWJONES is 9,780 and the top level will be 10,500 in the month of February 2010.
 
7. NASDAQ will also face a volatile month. Volatility would be between 7% – 10%.
 
8. Asian markets like Nikkei, Hang Sheng, Shanghai and KOSPI will also be volatile.
 
9. Property all over the world will remain stable. But the re-elected Chairman of Federal Reserve of USA, Mr. Ben Bernanke, may not be very positive for the Property Market and for USA Markets like DOWJONES, NYSE and NASDAQ.

Given below are the broad indications for the period up to 2^nd May 2010 and the recommended actions to minimise the weaknesses and maximise the strengths of the transit.

Jupiter’s blessings can be gained by visiting the shrine Thiru Alangudi in Tamil Nadu, about 20 km from the temple city of Kumbakonam. We have used the word indicative since the above observations are based on only one transit.  When bad indications are there, it means that we take the necessary caution in whatever we do. 1. Relationships with Pakistan.

There will be no war. However, there will be a small war in the border. The training of militants and denial proof by India will be a common pattern. There will no concrete action against the December 11^th, 2008 attack on Mumbai. As usual, infiltration and encounters will be common. When the Mars bhukthi begins, more blood will be spilt in Kashmir and in other areas, which will be after 28-6-2010. Some form of attacks on schools is also possible.

2. The Central Government.

With the majority in the centre, it would be another year of smooth sailing. The twitter minister should be careful as he can lose his job. Rahul Gandhi will make inroads and will try to improve the Congress in many ways. Naxals and Maoists will be a pain for the government.

3. Prices.

Prices of essential commodities will shoot up. Someone called me and asked me whether sugar prices will go up. I said that it can touch Rs.50. Due to all the fabrication of the statistics on inflation, the prices of essential commodities will go up by 25%, easily. Sharad Pawar will become a billionaire. The price of dal, rice, pulses, wheat and oil will go up. Also, the prices of petrol will be hiked after the month of June, 2010. You can expect to pay more for the same commodity. Of course, Rahu in the House of Food, in the Indian horoscope, is a very good indicator for the rising prices. Price fluctuations can be seen in the next 4 months and then it will get better.

4. Stock markets.

The Indian market will be very attractive. Secondly, the growth will be between 7 to 8 percent and in some months it can even reach 9%. India is hungry for growth; therefore one can expect the market to reflect these trends. Easily, the market will cross over 18,000 points before February end, 19,000 before April end and a good chance for it to touch 20,000 before the year end. Of course, there will be corrections. Car sales will zoom, and most auto companies will do well.

5. Lifestyle and Work.

The number of Indians opting for air travel will increase. Hiring will increase in IT companies and in all other sectors in India. Many people working in the IT industry will suffer from diseases related to their lifestyle like Diabetes, Blood Pressure, etc. The travel industry which includes hotels, airlines, trains, buses and auto transport will go through an upswing.

6. Sales.

Truck sales will be high, but below the figures of December. Many of the retail chains will do well, this year.

7. Gold, Currency and Garments.

Gold will cross over 19,000 per ten grams. India Inc. will go through positive swings and reach record outputs. Gold and currency reserve will be high. Indian currency will gain strength and will be very strong over the Dollar. Gold making and jewellery units will do well. The garment industry will be better, as compared to last year.

8. Growth Trend.

The government will spend more money on infrastructure projects. Indian sports like shooting, tennis, wrestling, swimming and chess will do well. Indian cricket could reach top spots. In general, Dhoni’s men will have a better time. On the whole, India will be already off recession. It will start booming faster. With more Indians returning from abroad, this will be a very common trend. Many people from USA and UK could come back to India.

9. Education and Career.

Many corporate companies will increase their presence in school and college segments. Internet penetration and usage will triple along with online, e-commerce sales and referrals in a big way.

10. Entertainment and Climate.

The movie industry will have better time. Bigger budget movies will be aimed and small films will do really well. The west and south side of India will do well. Mass death due to bad weather, to the tune of 100 – 200 people, will be there.

Most of us know what manifestation is. But I am not sure how many of us have thought about how Tarot can help us with it. Finally, there are a few things that I would like to inform you about, that you should keep in mind when you do a manifestation.

Whatever it is that you wish for, know that it is not right to change how another feels about anything or even their future.

E.g.: “I want to win this court case.” is correct, but “I would like to see that I win this court case and that XYZ is in prison after that.” is a false manifestation. You leave the decision upon the judge.

Not everything you wish for comes true. There are a few reasons for it, namely, mid-way you will think this is a stupid thing to do and stop doing it. Another reason can be that it is not what you really want, but have become influenced with other things/ people and decided you do, as soon as your emotions are not happy. Dear friends I am sure you must be wondering on what would be the kind of economy we could expect in year 2010?

In fact we had made a prediction regarding the economy coming up by year ending 2009, which has come true as per president Obama’s declaration that now the slow-down has stopped. This is the power of simple astro-numerology, to make predictions with the simple tools of numbers and planets instead of heavy mathematics. However, the latter could also be used.

Year 2010 – Numerological Perspective:

Let us analyze year 2010:-

2010 = 2+0+1+0 = 3 = JUPITER

2010, is pronounced as two thousand and ten. So it is 2000 + 10.

So looking at number 10, though 1+0 =1 = SUN, but ending of 10 with 0 (URANUS and SATURN both) makes things a bit tough at times.

Due to Saturn and especially Uranus, one could expect sudden reversals in the market. It also gives one victory after a fight, but victory is present due to JUPITER. As JUPITER is responsible for expansion and karaka for money, one could expect growth of money flow. We have started feeling the good effects of JUPITER in the economy since the ending of 2009.

In the 2nd quarter, Jupiter gets in Pisces (4th House). Aspects 8/10 and the 12th House.

When first selecting the piece of land where a structure will stand, an expert in ‘vastushastra’ can guide to bring about the best potential in the persons who will work or live there. This is of primary importance and proves to be very beneficial.

The coming Lunar Solar Eclipses in July 2009-August 2009 form a set of Triple Eclipse. The Lunar Eclipse of (Chandra Grahan) July 7, 2009 is followed by a solar eclipse (Surya Grahan) on July 22, 2009 and another lunar eclipse on August 6, 2009.

Triple Eclipse in History :

The first triple eclipse occurred in 3067 BC and coincided with the Kurukshetra war. Another triple eclipse ocurred in 3031 BC, this coincided with the destruction of the ancient city of Dwarka. In recent times, the first half of the 20th century saw the occurrence of a series of triple eclipse between 1910 and 1945, which coincided with World War I and II, the Holocaust, and the nuclear bombings in Japan.

As per Dharm Sindhu and Nirnay Sindhu -the ancient books mentioning the effect of celestial events, “Whenever a triple eclipse occurs in a lunar month, it will cause mass destruction, discontent and suffering among the masses, decline of empires (symbolizing government in the present reference) and global wars.”

The Triple Eclipse will cause severe effects because it will be caused in the auspicious month of Shraavan and the Solar Eclipse will be occurring on the highly auspicious Pushya Nakshara.

This will be the longest Solar Eclipse witnessed by Indians in the 21st Century and this triple Eclipse will be followed by six sets of such triple eclipses that will continue till 2020. Hence, it marks the beginning of an Era of Triple Eclipses known to have always caused severe destruction.

The concern for India is that we are surrounded by nations facing internal political strife. The potential of this strife overflowing into India is pretty high and to make situations worse we have the Alarming beginning of the triple eclipse. The predicted path of the forthcoming eclipse and recently observed pattern of earthquakes hints that areas where this total eclipse will be visible in India are more susceptible to earthquakes and man-made and natural disasters.

The Kashmir Issue and a series of terrorist attacks are also likely to be a cause of serious concern. The Triple Eclipse warns of clashes between countries.

The Solar Eclipse on 22nd July will be auspicious for Taurus, Virgo, Libra and Aquarius. It will be slightly negative for Aries, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces. It will be extremely negative for Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Capricorn.

The Triple eclipse will significantly affect the masses, by causing drought situations at some places and famines in the other areas. It will also affect the individuals by causing a mushrooming increase in diseases related to skin and blood. In Vedic Astrology, Sun governs the Head, the mind and thoughts of individuals. Hence, it will cause severe mental tensions, adversely affect the inter-personal relationships as well.

Eclipses are believed to cause severe health problems and are never advisable to be seen. As per the Agni Puraan it is believed that patients especially those suffering with hormonal and psychological problems, kids and pregnant ladies should NOT see the Eclipse at all. The Negative energies released during the eclipse can cause sever problems to the eyes, skin and hormones.

In Vedas, it is clearly mentioned that the effect of Eclipse starts 12 hours before the actual occurrence of the event. This period of 12 hours is known as sootak. Everyone must meditate and worship their Kuldevta. In case, one does not have any information about the Kuldevta then worshipping Lord Ganesha is ideally suggested.

According to Dharm Sindu (the ancient treatise on Religious rituals), “Grahsparshkaalesnaanam madhye homah suraarchanam shraadham chamuchyamaane daanam mukte snanmiti kramah” It means that a native must take bath at the beginning of the eclipse, do a homam and prayers while the eclipse is going on and do shraadh or daan at the conclusion of the eclipse. Following this ritual blesses the native with happiness of all kinds and prevents the evil effect of the eclipse.

It further explains that Food prepared before the ecipse must not be consumed during or after the Eclipse. As during the eclipse negative or harmful rays are circulated in the environment. It is therefore advised to remain indoors and avoid looking directly at the eclipse. These rays also get absorbed in the food. The cooked food should be eaten before eclipse. People should avoid eating and drinking during the eclipse phase too. Drinking water can be kept pure by adding Tulsi (Basil leaves). Tulsi leaves have religious, herbal as well as medicinal relevance. This keeps the water pure. One should also refrain from sleeping during this period. These tips should be strictly observed by pregnant women.

Maharshi Gautama in Parashar Madhava explains “All except the young, the old and the ill should stop eating four Prahars (12 hours) before a solar eclipse commences. The young, the old and the ill should stop eating one Prahar (3 hours) before an eclipse.”

After bathing, one should prepare food and offer it to their diety at home and then eat the Prasad. Many people give alms to the poor and the needy to derive some punya or benefits.

However, Bhargawa-archan-deepika and Jyotirnibandh mentions some eatables prepared before Eclipse to be allowed for consumption after eclipse. These are Ghee, Curd, Oil, Cooked Food, Milk and Milk products. It is suggested that ‘KUSHA’ must be kept over the vessles containing these food items.
