“I like to know more about me by talking to various astrologers..”

To what extent, do you believe in astrology, as a human being? To what extent do you let astrology rule your life?
To the extent that one tends to believe in the fact that there is a vast and wide Universe and planets, I also believe in the science of astrology, which you cannot wish away even if you want to. However I am not a fanatic believer in astrology. I have always believed that astrology can show you the tendency, not the future. It can show you the drift. Every planet has a certain tendency of its own. To put it more precisely, if you believe it 100%, astrology can affect you in many ways both positively as well as adversely because tendency is like gambling and if you do not keep on playing, you will not be able to win.

Have you visited any astrologer? What has the experience been like?
I have visited quite a few astrologers. In fact I’d not hesitate to say that I enjoy meeting various astrologers. However if you were to ask me, when it comes to setting out to know what is ultimately going to happen in your life, all that I can say is that what you sow today, you will reap tomorrow. To what extent do you attribute truth to the predictions by various astrologers? Have you set out to implement any suggestions that may have had a positive or negative impact in your life?
I like all those astrologers who are positive and not those who predict the doomsday because by nature I am a person who treasures positivity a lot and hate negativity of any kind, whether it is a Man or for that matter a Woman. In fact my latest release- Zindaggi Rocks in which I am essaying the role of a rock star is one film, which sets out to talk a great deal about positivity. My take on this topic is that though you should listen to various astrologers when they foretell about your life, you should not live life just based on the predictions. On the contrary, you should try to improve your life by taking all the soothsayers by taking their suggestions and predictions in a positive manner.

In Bollywood the trend of late seems to change one’s name by adding an alphabet or two. Have you also contemplated on changing your name in a similar fashion?
Though I believe in astrology as well as destiny, it does not mean that I am game to change my name just because some numerologist asks me to add a particular alphabet to my name to usher in luck. To tell you the truth, recently a numerologist met me and suggested that I should add either a S or E in my name if I wanted to change the course of my life for the better but I refused to change my name because I like my name as it is and do not think that I should change my name to say Susshmita Sen or Sushmeta Sen.

What does the science of astrology mean to you?
Astrology means different things to different people. It all depends upon the way you perceive things in your life and your gut level as a human being. You may not connect with whatever I set out to say because all said and done, ultimately what is necessary is that come what may, you ought to trust your own instinct.

Has any astrologer predicted that you would end up as a star in Hollywood?
Though the fact remains that right now I am working in a Hollywood film, which is being co-produced by Sa Re Ga Ma called Karma Connections & Holi, the fact remains that I do not have any inclination to take up a career in Hollywood. I do not have that fire. In fact to tell you the truth, I am quite surprised that I have even ended up here as a Bollywood actor. I think it would be stupid on the part of any actor in India to aim for a career in Hollywood because we are kings and queens here in India because several crores of fans wait to watch your film.

Do you believe in destiny?
I believe a lot I destiny. People generally feel that I am accident-prone since over the years I have found myself getting hurt several times. I think even recently when I sprained my neck, it was actually destined and it was God’s way of telling me to go slow as far as my work is concerned. I am a restless soul and cannot afford to lie in bed though recently I had no other alternative but to remain confined to my bed for almost two weeks because of the sprain in my neck. Okay I may not be hopping from one shooting to another and working in several films, but I strain myself all the time because besides the fact that I am the full time mother of Renee, I also have my own company, which is into events and making ad films. In fact I think that I am busier than those other actors who are working in 40 films. At least they have a fixed and proper working schedule, unlike me, who likes to dabble in everything.

What is your astro -advice to all your fans?
All that I’d like to say to my fans all over the world is that any kind of belief in anything is okay; because the fact is that you also have doubt only when you believe in something in life. Both belief and doubt always come in a package together. Go ahead and have ample faith in anything in life including astrology and palmistry and of course numerology but then having faith does not necessarily mean that you ought to keep your eyes shut.
