Tarot with Youth - how useful? by Pooja Changlani

“Life is more by chance than by design!” “Man proposes, god disposes”. These age old sayings only reiterate that future is unpredictable and uncertain. Ironically though, there is an innate desire in every human being to know his future.

Tarot card reading is one such powerful tool to look into one’s future. The logic behind this art is that man’s subconscious mind is a reservoir of his strongest inclinations, intuitions, desires and capabilities. But paradoxically, a person is himself , unaware of his subconscious due to the over reigning influence of his conscious mind which is influenced by his parents, peer pressures and other environmental influences thus leading to confusion between his achievable goals and unachievable goals. This ends up in frustration. Don’t we hear of youngsters having chosen a particular line of Study or profession because it’s in demand or it’s his parent’s dream. Tarot reveals to us the hidden aspects of our deepest, innermost selves. It is the “royal road” to wisdom, an insight into the Self.

In this light tarot is quite useful for young people who are at the crossroads of their career. It is a wonderful tool of counseling youth or teenagers who have to decide on their career path or which line of education to choose.
