StarTalk with Hrishita Bhatt

“It is more than a mathematical study of stars and their positions. It is a study, a science with a lot of depth.”
She swayed to the hot number, Huzoor-e-aala from the blockbuster, Page 3. Hrishita Bhatt, who made her debut with the Abhishek Bachchan starrer Shararat, says that life is all about making choices. Her claim to fame is her role against Shah Rukh Khan in the film,Asoka. We asked her whether she let her ruling stars be affected by astrology. This is what she had to say…
Do you believe in astrology?
Yes, I do believe in astrology, but only to a certain extent. I am into sun signs and the basic of Vaastu and Feng Shui. But I am not totally blinded by my faith in this science. A lot of people believe in it. It is more than a mathematical study of stars and their positions. It is a study, a science with a lot of depth. It is something much more complex than what a common man can understand.
To what extent do you attribute truth to these predictions?
Well, there are times when I totally agree with some advice, suggestion or any piece of information given to me. But there are times when I do not pay heed to them. Truly speaking, it is a matter of convenience. Many a time, things have gone the way they have been predicted and many times they haven’t. However, I do not like to be bound by do’s and don’ts in my life.
Do you think a person “restricts” his actions in future if his predictions are made known before hand?
I believe that every human being possesses a great amount of “free-will.” According to me, each one of us has the right to make our own choices and not let predictions and presumptions rule our lives. Having said that, I do think that we live our lives with many constraints. Yes, a part of our lives does depend on our stars. But, we do not or rather we should not let it govern our actions.
Have you ever visited an astrologer? What has the experience been like?
I know a lot of people who are astrologers. They keep giving me little suggestions and insights on my life, both personal and professional. I, personally, am quite intrigued by the subject, but I do not let it rule my actions. So, technically speaking, I have never been to an astrologer with the intention of finding out something about myself.
Any suggestions you implemented that may have had a positive or negative impact on your success story?
Yes, there have been certain changes that have come about in my life when I have put into practice certain tips or advices given to me. But they have all been temporary phases. You know, like when you fall ill, you take a medicine. Most of the times, the medicine has a positive effect on you and you get better. But there are times, when the medicine brings you a side effect. Astrology is just like that. Complex to study– yet so simple to follow. These changes come about in our lives. But they do not last for long. They are just phases that pass by.
Any “Myths” broken?
I believe in energy and the power of spirituality. I believe in the principle of Karma too. Feng Shui and Vaastu endorse the use of a lot products that will bring about changes for the better in our lives. I believed in it too. But, now, I do not let ‘objects’ rule my life.
Any incident that has strengthened your belief in this “power”?
I have always believed in astrology and its power. There has not been a specific incident that has strengthened my belief in it. I believe that ‘life’ and ‘death’ are in God’s hands. They are pre-determined but only in his books. So, we have no say over that. But, like I said before, our free will helps us to keep going on and never give up in life. Because this is the only virtue that enables us to make our own choices.
Do you check out the daily newspaper for what the “stars” have in store for you for the day?
Yes, I do read the horoscope sometimes. But, I do it just for fun.Like I said, it is a matter of convenience. Sometimes, I do pay attention to it. I take all the negatives as a warning and try not to do the things that may cause me trouble. And, I look forward to all the positives that are likely to come my way in the course of the day.
Any astro-advice for your fans?
All I want to say is that each one of us must believe in it. But, we must not let it rule our lives. The power lies within you. All of us have been blessed with ‘free-will’ in abundance. Use it and make the most out of it.

best of luck
